From the Christophers... A Burger, Fries – and a Low-Cost Loan?

When Steve Bigari’s McDonald’s franchise began to lose money, he needed a plan. His first impulse was to cut his staff’s benefits. His mentor, the late Brent Cameron, set him straight: “You may be able to afford to lose your vacation, but they can’t,” he reminded him. Bigari got the message. He focused instead on helping the working poor.

The plan worked. By arranging day care, providing rides to workers without transportation and offering small, emergency loans and other services, he helped keep his employees on the job and focused on the customers. Employee turnover dropped. Profits improved.

Use your creativity to help the working poor in your own community.

I worked with my own hands to support myself. (Acts 20:34)

Father, remind me that when I work to help people fulfill their obligations to their workplace and their home, I am serving You, the author and head of every family.
